GEOPHONIC

GEOPHONIC is a site responsive performance piece which took place at the Inside Out Dorset Festival and has continued to tour to different locations. Within each performance the audience are taken on a sound walk which encourages you to be more in tune with the geological processes of the Earth.  The costumes are particularly indictiative of each character's identity as a part of the natural world. Each character represents a different rock cycle - there is Chalk, Coal, Quartz and Igneous. Each character has additional fabrics which have been digitally printed with designs highlighting microscopic formations of rock and chemical formulas. I worked particularly on Coal and Metamorphic in which I created a marble print, a repeat pattern of the chemical formulas for coal which was used as leg inserts and a abstract print of how coal is seen under the microscope which the character wears on a t-shirt.
