Little Briar Rose

My concept for this unit , Beauty in Power, revolutionises the basic gender roles of most traditional fairy tales. As the performance moves through the 19th century story of women's activism, the characters evoke with it. Female characters of the plot become the focal point of the entire tale, gaining power, control and independence. Qualities that are almost never encouraged in fictional female parts. The authentic design of this set places the audience directly into Edwardian England. For instance, the prop hats available for the audience to wear, actively involve the spectators as symbolic characters of 'Wise' Conservative Women. Details such as this were intended to ask the audience to consider what role they would of played during the suffragette campaign for the right to vote. 

This project was completeled during my first year at AUB and it was also my  first ever project working as a Designer.
