Cyrano de Bergerac

Winning Pitch. 

Creating an Enchanting Set for Cyrano de Bergerac:
The design of this piece was to transport the audience to 1640s France with a romantic and rustic atmosphere that would be able to capture the essence of this tragic love story. To achieve this, I researched Elizabethan theatre spaces and courtyard architecture, taking inspiration from the locations listed in the script by Glen Maxwell. One of the key features of my design for this set was a beautiful wisteria tree that arched over the balcony, providing a stunning backdrop for the climax of the play. As the protagonist meets his tragic end, the leaves of the wisteria fall to the ground, which created a poignant and unforgettable moment. In addition to designing the set, I also worked on the scenic art element, which made the process even more rewarding. Seeing the final product lit up in the space was truly an amazing experience.
